Will My New Flooring Match? What to Ask Before It's Ordered
One of the most common complaints we read in water damage reviews: the new carpet or flooring was cheaper than what was there, or it doesn't match the room next to it.
Why it happens
The exact product may be discontinued. The contractor may pick the cheapest option that fits the estimate. Or nobody asked you.
What to ask before anything is ordered
- Can I see a sample next to the floor that's staying?
- Is this the same type and grade as what was there?
- If the old product is discontinued, what are my options?
- Where does the new floor stop, and what happens at the doorway?
If you're filing a claim, how your policy handles matching is a question for your insurance company or agent. A good contractor will document what you had with photos and product details so the adjuster has what they need.
How we do it
We match what you had as closely as possible and show you samples before anything is ordered. If you want to upgrade, that's priced in writing first. More on our water damage process.
